I believe that the main reason why most sales people that don’t produce at the level that there want to produce, is not that they lack motivation, what they lack is commitment. They have so much going on and very little results. They seem to be busy but not productive and to top it off they have so many distractions.

I’ve learned over the years that the best way to stay focused and be more productive is by doing certain things that causes you to be uncomfortable enough to do what you are supposed to do. I’m going to share 3 quick and easy tips that if your put into practice, not only you will be more productive but you will substantially increase your income;

  1. TIME: you must first understand time and how you manage it. If it’s not in calendar, it doesn’t exist. This is a critical situation for many because they don’t control what is in the agenda and quite honestly I’ve learned that if you don’t own your time , someone else will. Often we focus on the goals, that we forget that there are important steps that we must follow in order to see progress. For instance; if your goal is to earn $100,000 by the end of the year, you probably need to contact a certain amount of people to create sales, we call that prospecting and if it’s not on calendar, we just don’t do it. Like the old saying goes, out of sight, out of mind. If you control every hour on the day and apply the necessary action, the work actually gets done and now you are moving forward.
  2. PLANNING FOR YOUR GOALS: is absolutely necessary, let me explain why this a key assignment… Notice that I didn’t say create a goal, I am assuming that if you are reading this article, you are looking for better ways to stay accountable so you can reach your goals and be more profitable. Planning ahead gives you the right ideas on what needs to be done, this way you avoid procrastination. The best way to plan for productivity is by breaking down the goals in small segments, if we use the same example I previously shared with you, now I can show you how to come up with small steps… If you want to make 6 figures by the end of the year, you need to create sales, right? By simplifying things you will be less likely overwhelmed, all you have to do is know how many contacts you need to make daily, set time to follow up with people that previously showed motivation do business with you and focus on setting appointments. You will probably run into some admin work and non-income producing tasks, which I highly advise to include in your planning.
  3. BE CONSISTENT: Even when you don’t feel like it. Holding yourself accountable is challenging but the best way to create is by putting the work consistently. Give yourself a reason to be inspired, let’s face it, when you feel good you perform better and specially when it’s something you look forward to, commit to something that gives you the motivation too stay under strong commitment. Understand that success is not easy and it requires hours of constant hard work, you may get disappointed at times but if you stay in the game long enough, you will always win!
